Re: Happy 2 Year Anniversary DP7!

I believe they're not scrapping MAS. Why? Because MOTU has been big on compatibility. You can open the earliest Performer files in today's DP. If they were to ditch MAS, you would not be able to use the files you make today, much less 10, 15, or 20 years ago. Well, the Performer files might still w...

Re: DP 7.23 and Lion recent experience

Clockworks is what you use to digitally connect and sync up all your MIDI gear. Cannot use hardware synths or sound modules without it. Ok. But is it a part of DP or a plug-in or additional software? Clockworks gets installed whenever you install MIDI drivers and software, like for the MTP-AV-USB, ...

try calling customer service. IIRC they sell the big book for $25 USD plus shipping.

Re: DP 7.22 released

FWIW, I got word from a source at MOTU that this was just an installer issue and that folder is only meant to be installed when the Mac is set to Japanese language. It is perfectly safe to simply delete it. James, these sources of yours seem to be spreading. Fantastic! I hereby volunteer to spray U...

Re: Is it possible to connect PS3 to 828 mkIII?

Actually, I think the PS3 might offer the ability to output a PCM stream over Optical which would allow you to output discrete channels. Try digging through the menus to see if it's possible.

One caveat - I'm not sure if it includes a clock signal or not.

Re: Is it possible to connect PS3 to 828 mkIII?

No. The PS3, like most all other entertainment devices, spits out an encoded single stream signal that is decoded by the surround receiver ont he other end.

The 828 can only send and receive ADAT Optical or TOSLink (depending on the model) which provide discrete audio channels.

Re: C•••••, R•••••, and Justin Frankel

If the price and CP is the big issue, what about when Apple dropped the retail price of Logic to $500, bundled in ALL the content that they EVER produced for it and flat out dropped the dongle? Apple's serial number scheme is even more easily circumvented than DP's!

and on that note...

Re: The very REAL consequences of Music Software Piracy

I would imagine it would be pretty difficult to get any of these smaller devs to divulge their sales figures. These are mainly small, privately held shops that aren't likely to put their financials out there. For these smaller developers a 30 percent hit to sales on back to back months could force t...

Re: Official Info from PACE on new iLok

Waitaminnit, are you sure? I thought all iZotope plug-ins were 64-bits. Did I make a mistake just now in buying/authorizing Nectar as iLok instead of challenge/response? PACE has had 64-bit iLok wrappers and drivers available for a while now. Izotope plug-ins perform 64-bit internal resolution calc...

Re: Flashing light on front of my Mac Pro... bad RAM?

I take that back... seems the speed of horizontal scroll in DP's Sequence Editor is effected by how many soundbites are present. If you're scrolling through a section with not much music present, it's quick. As things start getting dense it slows and gets jerky and falls way behind. I notice DP is ...

This is Kanye West's tour DJ. A few days later he was asking for QuickBooks codes as well.

I sent along a heads up to a friend at Izotope about it.

Could always save an insert preset on your MIDI track with a Change Duration plug-in set to subtract 1 tick.

Re: The very REAL consequences of Music Software Piracy

If they make enough noise that it forces MOTU/Apple/Digi to take notice and start pushing the envelope again, then I'm not mad. They obviously aren't cutting that far into anybody's market share. Really? You must have missed the part about SOS's user survey and the DP-specific "Performer Notes...

Re: DP 7.2.1 closed unexpectedly

Go into ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost and trash ny files that say MIDI in them. Something is causing your MIDI Server to crash. Trashing the ByHost files will flush out AMS completely. Restart the computer afterwards.
