Re: Replacement for Sennheiser 380Pro headphones

I'm just seeing it now... the Human Render Farm.

It's like the Human Centipede, just with brains.

Re: I may have to upgrade to Catalina

Ugh, between this and my 40TB Backblaze upload, something tells me this is going to be a REAL PAIN.

Re: I may have to upgrade to Catalina

I've been drooling over the Triton VI. But at $250 without a discount for former KLC owners? Something feels really wrong there. With M1 and Wavestation, they gave huge discounts when they were released.

Re: I may have to upgrade to Catalina

:o I'm just now seeing that Catalina doesn't play nice with the Korg Legacy Collection. My main lead sound uses that. Ima freakin. Think I'm not gonna. Going to try to keep Mojave on my old computer. Actually, my plan had been to CarbonCopyCloner the drive on my old computer to the new one. I feel a...

Re: I may have to upgrade to Catalina

Eh, I figured I'm going to have to do it at some time anyway. Is there are particular reason I should avoid Catalina now? It might be a good time to switch if not.

I may have to upgrade to Catalina

I wasn't really paying attention when the Catalina thread was going, I'm very slow to upgrade. Unfortunately, I just got a new iMac in my rig for work, and it's obviously going to come pre-installed. It's not going to be my audio computer, but it will have to network cleanly with my audio computer, ...

Re: Replacement for Sennheiser 380Pro headphones

James, I'm glad you're up and running and fine with the 770. I agree with you about a slight drop in high mid. As I said, they're not totally flat. But I think it allows some long unreasonable high level listenings, which tracking musicians are known for... Yeah, it's not a big deal. Supposedly the...

Re: Replacement for Sennheiser 380Pro headphones

So I got a pair of DT770s and I generally really like it. It’s actually far more similar to the 380Pro than any other cans I’ve used. There are a couple of bullet posts though: - I feel like there’s a resonance at around 3100Hz. I started noticing I was throwing an EQ dip on many tracks around the s...

Re: Electric Guitar production (very stupid question)

HCMarkus: I agree, it's not going to be good for everything. If I had any more than two sources, obviously I wouldn't start using 5.1 tracks. And you're right, if the sources have completely different functions like close and room, then I would want them separated. But in a case where all I'm lookin...

Re: Electric Guitar production (very stupid question)

Wouldn't you always want to keep them in separate tracks until you get to a mixbus so you can apply different compression, eq, delay, dual panning, etc? Even if the tracking and performance is perfect, what would be the advantage of having them as one stereo channel at the start of the signal path?...

Re: Electric Guitar production (very stupid question)

Here's a screenshot of the workflow for all who are interested. I've opened the first 3 inserts you'll see in the channel strip. The two after the Trim process both mics together. Image came out huge, so you'll need to right-click and open it in a new tab to see the full thing (couldn't get BBCode t...

Re: Electric Guitar production (very stupid question)

Definitely the precision delay. If you haven't messed with the phase of two mics on a guitar amp before, it will be illuminating. This is another advantage to using a stereo track, I put the precision delay at the top of the chain and could tweak the phase, no bussing necessary. I found it sounded ...

Re: Electric Guitar production (very stupid question)

I tried it out, loading it in as stereo, and it works great! I just have to shift my idea of the "trim" plugin into being more of a mic mix, and it really streamlines the workflow by a few magnitudes, and I have just as much control as before if I want. I can use my FabFilter F3 in L/R mod...
