Re: New iMacs-no superdrive

Since a Mac always had only 1 FireWire bus wouldn't "in theory" a Thunderbolt/FireWire adaptor going to a FW hub work for the FW drives? In theory, yes. But I'm wondering if the adapter will allow for seamless streaming of large samples, or if its purpose is for merely copying files. I su...

Re: New iMacs-no superdrive

No Firewire!!?? Ouch that hurts. All of my libraries and samples are on firewire drives. So I would need to buy an entire fleet of new drives in addition to the computer. Not good. Guess I'll hold out for the 2013 Mac Pro if it's ever released. That better have firewire ports or I'm going to 'occupy...

Re: Project File Won't Open - Unreadable Data ?!!

Thanks for the tip! I currently only have 7.24 and 7.21 insalled on my computer. I'll have to dig through my installation CDs to find 7.0.

I'll let you know if it works.

Project File Won't Open - Unreadable Data ?!!

I was doing a late night session last night... when I was done I may have accidentaly saved and quit too quickly. (I read in other discussions this can lead to problems) This morning, the file won't open. I get an error message saying something like "DP encountered unreadable data". It's d...

Re: Steven Slate Drums 4 completely useless in DP7!

The really frustrating part is that the drums sound freakin' awesome. Apparently the Vienna team is working to fix the problem with VE Pro, but no timeframe has been given for the release of the next update.

Re: OrangeTree Samples Update

Have you tried the Acoustic Guitar as well? It sounds awesome from the demos, but I haven't found any reviews.

Steven Slate Drums 4 *was* completely useless in DP7

**Update - apparently the latest updates to VEPro 5 and SSD4 have resolved this problem** I just bought SSD4 Platinum and was dismayed to discover it's such a memory hog, you can't load full kits within DP7 unless it's the ONLY plugin running! To make matters worse, it currently doesn't work with Vi...

Re: Return volume control to DP mixer from Omnisphere mixer

I had this same problem, and I was able to fix it by doing MIDI learns between each Omnisphere fader and its corresponding fader in the DP mixer.

Re: RealGuitar LPC another Guitar VI disappointment??

I too was suckered by the half-off promotion and recently bought ReaLPC. I had my fingers crossed, but to no avail.... major disappointment! It pales in comparison to Electr6ity which is awesome, but difficult and time consuming to program. RealPC would probably be pretty cool if it had bigger and b...

Some MCDSP plug ins 50% thru 2/29

Their web site says 50% on boxed products from authorized retailers thru 2/29. Oddly, I couldn't find the deals on any of the dealers listed on their site, but I just bought the Classic Pack v5 for only $174 on http://www.bhphoto.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sweet! Th...

The price on the web site is still $249. Does that mean no one tweeted?

Re: Are we (DP users) a dying breed?

I forgot to mention that Berkeley is no longer teaching online classes for DP, which was a standard for many years. Aside from PT, They're offering classes for Reason and Ableton, but not even DP. What the heck? This was one more red flag that got me worried.

Re: Are we (DP users) a dying breed?

Wow, lots of great thoughts in this thread. I didn't in any way mean this to be a MOTU-bashing or "lack of features" discussion, but lots of great points have been brought up. James, you're right, I have no hard data except a few polls taken on other forums, my own experiences in the real ...

Are we (DP users) a dying breed?

Whenever I come across other DP users in the real world who say "I love DP.. it's my favorite DAW", it's almost always followed by ..."but I've been using it since version 1.xx or 2.xx..." These people, like myself, are usually 35+ years in age, and have paid their dues in the mi...
