I think before you choose 64 bit operating system, make sure you have drivers for all your hardware.

My 828 mkii is working fine with Vista 64 (I have 2GB ram installed, using the current drivers). However the difference is I'm using the USB version. My current wonderment is that the Motu audio console does not allow me to set a latency any lower than 512 samples per buffer.

I think that you can change between 44k1 and 48k via software; and 88k2 and 96k the same way, but to switch between the 44/48 and 88/96 sample rate, you need to exit your music software, and change the sample rate via the Motu audio console, then re-start your music application.
