Re: Need High Sierra 10.13

Great thread. It took me a few years to find the right link to upgrade an old MacPro to High Sierra when the App Store was not helpful. The upgrade was smoother than silk. Thumbs up to all the helpers/advisors. :headbang:

Re: Thank you Sweetwater

The banner being gone will influence my decisions, though. I was always happy to click through knowing I was helping to support this site. If you find another sponsor to take that space, I’ll be glad to show my support again. +1 I always checked to see whether they had something I wanted, and somet...

It would help if I posted the link, wouldn't it?

String Libraries

Hey folks! Happy belated 2022! Here's an audio-only comparison of 20 string libraries that start with an excerpt from a real string ensemble. I found it enlightening in many ways. I have my favorites and will reserve my opinions unless a constructive conversation about them ensues. I'm curious as to...

Re: Waves 12?

There is lot of new stuff popping up these days. I would be careful not so much about Waves 12 but for the implications of what it means for macOS Big Sur. It would be safer to stay where you are for a few more weeks until the developers of your most-needed software send you a notice that the coast ...

Re: SSD as Backup Drive?

SSD is as legit a backup resource as any since no drive lasts forever. The only thing would be whether an SSD as a backup-only drive is worth the price if it costs more than a an HD. The benefit of the SSD is its seek speed and lack of moving parts. The question is which type of drive has a longer s...

Re: Inconsistent Results With Tempo Mapping

I wish I had a solid solution to offer, but I hear all of you out loud. Tempo Mapping isn't always as easy as it looks. In some cases, I've had to use a different app (to remain unnamed) to get the job done for certain types of projects, but once I import that map into DP I find that editing and fin...

I'm just laughing at the "must face" reference.

Making the jump to DP 10.x at last. It's about time, eh?

Re: A Beatles Virtual Instrument

Interesting! I tried to do a preliminary search for a video I saw years ago of The Beatles rehearsing the Sullivan show and the actual broadcast. The video included BOTH the rehearsal and broadcast and it was uncanny how they played almost in sync when played simultaneously. That said, it wasn't lik...

Re: A Beatles Virtual Instrument

Yeah--- it's a fascinating VI. I'm a big classical music fan. The Chopin demo used close mics, but I have minor issues with the MIDI performance in that it really could have been more "connected", more legato for the likes of Chopin. Maybe the use of pedal to better marry the left hand bas...

Re: A Beatles Virtual Instrument

I didn’t go to NAMM this year but when I do, I always ask the gal at the Blüthner display why they don’t have a big poster of Paul playing one on Let it Be . I don’t have a Beatles piano. I suppose that bringing up The Rolling Stones would go way off topic. Not really since the thread started out a...

Re: A Beatles Virtual Instrument

I noticed the logo but wasn't aware of the connection with the Lennon photo until now. What a curious juxtaposition. I was just knocked out by the asking price. So, I'm hoping that this Waves Abbey Road bundle of plugins earns its keep. I like the plugins a lot but haven't used them as a bundle rath...
