Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
I've been hearing for the past several years, that Apple has neglected Firewire, so at some point in OS updates, it'll just poop out.
Oh, and yea, we can't easily roll back an OS when it does.

In Audio MIDI Setup, if you double click it, does it bring up some configuration options?

I suspect you could tell by Apple's over-the-top deluxe white packaging-- which I doubt a counterfeiter would bother to replicate (but I may be wrong). OTOH, if they are asking Apple's price, perhaps it would be worth it.

Re: Old to new extended keyboards-Can F13 through F19 be assigned the same as on the older F1 through F6 keyboards.
My experience is you cannot use F16 - F19. Maybe some 3rd party utility will allow this but I tried Karabiner and couldn't make it work. Yea, I just tested this. Confirmed. DP can't see F16-F19. On my rig, it can see F1 - F13, but F14 & F15 are unavailable. I was surprised how little the System...

Re: Using external hardware with controller and DP 11
Audio MIDI Setup has a separate window for MIDI. From the Window menu choose "Show MIDI Studio" From there you'll see any MIDI devices that Apple's Core MIDI services recognizes either from a combination of the driver being installed and the hardware being connected, or just the plug &...

I rarely use loops, but that's a cool tip. Will check it out!Michael Canavan wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 8:16 pm It will lock to tempo like an Apple Loop would if you have Stretch enabled in the Pitch and stretch preferences.

Re: Simple way to play .caf files (Apple Loops) inside DP11?
I'm sure others will have more speedy ways to do this. 1. Open .caf file in QuickTime Player and in Window pulldown choose "Show Movie Inspector" which will give you the native sample rate. Weirdly, it refuses to show you the bit depth. (I have Rogue Amoeba's Fusion which DOES give the bit...

Yea, supply & demand. I was going to suggest the Yamaha BC-3 as an example, but looked on eBay and it appears that fever has broken.James Steele wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 12:08 pm People will do all sorts of stuff to try and capitalize on a shortage like that.

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
I had an old TB adapter just up and fail on me, and had to buy a new one, and it worked as it should. Mind you, that was a pretty old adapter. To compound matters, there were other issues with a newer MBP and FW, unrelated to the adapter. But it was easy to sort because the failed adapter didn't wor...

Re: Really Interesting new MIDI Controller
Rotary encoders are particular good when you want configurable resolution and range, particularly for 14-bit CC/NRPN, etc. And, theoretically, you could have useful non-linear (speed based) knob ballistics that feel natural. If they lunge forward with some MIDI 2.0 implementation that would future-p...

Re: Using external hardware with controller and DP 11
Sounds like you've done some of this routing, but your description isn't very detailed. Sounds like the path to get MIDI into DP is via USB. You should further configure this routing in Audio MIDI Setup. If the devices aren't shown in the MIDI window, first make sure any drivers are installed for ea...

Were they able to make a glass display with holes and rotary push encoders poking through them? That's crazy!

Re: Samples Don't Play Accurately On Fast Parts -DP and Musio Strings
I wasn't able to tell from the example, but do the "missing" notes happen if there is a repeated note (of the same pitch)? If so, that may be related to a DP bug that we've discussed pretty extensively. As a test, you can put an insert effect on the MIDI track to change duration and subtra...

Try a different USB cable? Check sample rate settings? Increase buffer size? I'm just guessing.
