I rarely use loops, but that's a cool tip. Will check it out!

Re: Simple way to play .caf files (Apple Loops) inside DP11?

I'm sure others will have more speedy ways to do this. 1. Open .caf file in QuickTime Player and in Window pulldown choose "Show Movie Inspector" which will give you the native sample rate. Weirdly, it refuses to show you the bit depth. (I have Rogue Amoeba's Fusion which DOES give the bit...

Yea, supply & demand. I was going to suggest the Yamaha BC-3 as an example, but looked on eBay and it appears that fever has broken.

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.

I had an old TB adapter just up and fail on me, and had to buy a new one, and it worked as it should. Mind you, that was a pretty old adapter. To compound matters, there were other issues with a newer MBP and FW, unrelated to the adapter. But it was easy to sort because the failed adapter didn't wor...

Re: Really Interesting new MIDI Controller

Rotary encoders are particular good when you want configurable resolution and range, particularly for 14-bit CC/NRPN, etc. And, theoretically, you could have useful non-linear (speed based) knob ballistics that feel natural. If they lunge forward with some MIDI 2.0 implementation that would future-p...

Re: Using external hardware with controller and DP 11

Sounds like you've done some of this routing, but your description isn't very detailed. Sounds like the path to get MIDI into DP is via USB. You should further configure this routing in Audio MIDI Setup. If the devices aren't shown in the MIDI window, first make sure any drivers are installed for ea...

Were they able to make a glass display with holes and rotary push encoders poking through them? That's crazy!

Re: Samples Don't Play Accurately On Fast Parts -DP and Musio Strings

I wasn't able to tell from the example, but do the "missing" notes happen if there is a repeated note (of the same pitch)? If so, that may be related to a DP bug that we've discussed pretty extensively. As a test, you can put an insert effect on the MIDI track to change duration and subtra...

Try a different USB cable? Check sample rate settings? Increase buffer size? I'm just guessing.

Sixth Sample: SpotOn vocal tuner (and others)

I just saw a little demo for a free, simple, and pretty effective vocal tuner called Spoton. https://sixthsample.com/spoton/ Could be useful when one just wants a simple "touch-up" tuning. There are other free and pay plugins on this developer's site, including dynamics, distortion, filter...

I've had click and tap tempo behave stupidly/sluggishly. But not lately (admittedly, I've not used tap tempo in a while).

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase

Sounds like a bug, but I suppose it is possible that there could have been some logic like bring back up the previous track selections-- so you could adjust them more. I could understand that, if the mixer was already open in the background, and you just brought it forward. But if the mixer was clos...

Re: Building an External Music Studio Building

I taught music in a cube-shaped space, and was able to improve the standing-wave problems by using large plywood panels at various angles. So if your budget requires a simpler structure with parallel walls, it's not the end of the world. The hardest/most-expensive part is isolation, so you'll just h...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase

I still can't understand why someone would want a note that is zero ticks long? Is it even possible to create a note (MIDI Event) like that. That's essentially a note with zero duration. Which is functionally no note at all. Seems like a DAW shouldn't even allow that as a possibility? It's not that...
