Re: Setting up to maximize workflow

For some of the grunt-work-flow, doing a little planning about what kinds of tasks you do often (scrolling, zooming, window sets, transport, etc, etc), and how you might prefer to activate them, (via mouse button, key-stroke, trackpad gesture, etc), then setting up the COMMANDS in DP and working out...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase

As the sands of time have poured on, I've seen some number of DP updates that mention "rebuilding from the ground up" or some other such claim of careful reworking. Various updates have brought with them some improvements and new powers. I've had a couple of my "darlings" murdere...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase

Can you tell me what were the main factors for bringing you back to DP after you'd defected to Logic.? (...Or was it just familiarity and being already quicker in DP?). Familiarity with DP was significant. However, there were some legitimate beefs with Logic: 1. Logic's documentation was terrible. ...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase

Yea, DP crashes a lot for me, too. In recent months I've noticed that DP's auto-save has been more effective at reducing the amount of lost work to a fairly painless amount. Seems like most other users here have a better experience than us. I'm especially frustrated with Apple, as they have made it ...

Re: MOTU April 19th webinar posted - Scaling MIDI & Audio

I was able to access the video by dismissing the Facebook login window, so I suppose non-facebook people like myself can access it.

YouTube would just make it easier for us non-facebook folk to search/find.

Re: SpectraLayers 10 is a life saver, for legacy projects

RipX Pro is on "spring sale" for $158 USD (reg. $198).

I'd be curious to know how well it compares in separation quality & features to Spectralayers, since RipX is 2/3 the price (currently nearly 1/2 the price).

It's not shown on their YouTube Channel "motuTV". But maybe the FB people could give MOTU a nudge to post over on YT.

Thanks, bayswater!

This is the WAY DEEPER dive into convolution. I better put on the coffee.

Tasty Chips: Integral, Dual Convolution Reverb Pedal

I've been having a blast getting to know the Tasty Chips Integral. It is a beast. Amazing sonic worlds to explore. After studying the manual, working with the device itself, and exchanging friendly emails with Joeri at Tasty Chips, I've gained a pretty deep understanding of the unit. I then sat down...

Re: Quickscribe Tip: eliminate extra bars in Quickscribe at end of sequence

There might be reasons why someone would want a different score/part length than actual playback chunk length. It is nice that DP doesn't force them to be linked. I've never found setting QS's set score length to a fixed value to be that arduous a task. That said, you're right, if QS could just use ...

AudioThing 13th Anniversary Sale 35% off all plugins

I didn't see a date when this sale ends. AudioThing (IMHO) hits a sweet spot between practical sounds with a sort of eclectic twist. I'm a huge fan of their Fog Convolver plugin-- which is an inexpensive alternative to Altiverb, for convolution. It's easy to use and understand. The included library ...

Re: Questions about MIDI/QuickScribe editors

I'll confess that out of desperation I've used this workaround I've used involves Apple's Screenshot utility, and Apple's Preview. In short, in Preview I make a blank PNG file the size of a page. In DP, I zoom the page to fit the screen, and use the screenshot to grab parts of the score, which I the...
