Re: Field Record setup Suggestions Please
Thats a cool idea sdemott. Chanting is a sound that really needs room & air so that will work. If you can find one a Calrec Soundfield would also be cool and give you some control after the fact. The older ones have incredible ambient air. Sounds like a fun project. Ya gettin paid? Need a second...

Not in VA. Maybe the major cities like NY. Here in LA Audio Rents or other hire companies like them.

Re: Anyone tried the UA 2192 Digital IO?
I can't afford a BB right now but the jitter specs on this look good enough to eat. I think I'll try using this as the centerpiece of my HD192's and clocking the entire enchilada including my L2. Hmm, better get some lunch. hehe Cheers Gary Just found out Alan Sides at Ocean Way in LA bought a bunch...

Re: dudes... i got it! i effin' got it!
I have 2 8200 API's I mix with and they are quite warm sounding but you need the 7800 too making it a 5 to 6K party but this SPL mixer looks like alot of bang for the buck. You could likely get the SPL street for about 3K. The compressor also sounds delicious. I would listen to it first with full IO...

Anyone using Barbabatch
I was just told about this and wondered if there was any sonic advantages when downconverting rather than using MOTU's internal soundbite editing.
How does it work? Standalone?
Anyone?

LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU TEST THIS...I haven't tried the Freeze or Work Priority test, but I suspect they will yield the same results.
Thanks

Speed up G5's with software possible per Mac OS Rumors
FROM MOSR Friday, December 24 Could you make your G5 faster at the touch of a button? According to recently released IBM documentation for the PowerPC 970FX (used in Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs, Xserve G5s and iMac G5s), the second-generation 90-nanometer G5 uses a set of "soft PLLs" to determin...

Re: G5 optical audio out
I don't have an answer for you but suggest you call apple tech service. My own gut feeling is that it will work like that from your Mac volume control or why have it. You got me interested in this io plug so I called UA to find out if their super cool dual ad/da would sync at 96k and i could use it....

Sleep issues with G5 2.5
I tried to sleep my computer last night. When I woke up this morning, the fans were at full blast.
I had to unplug the machine to reset it. When it rebooted it was ok fortunatly. So much for using sleep.
Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks

It looks like the fixall bomb! You get a super good clock and two great ad-da's. Too bad there is no firewire interface though.

Re: studio monitors???
Monitor selection.... That is the all time question. I spent 10 grand on Monroe/Dynaudio MA1's midfield's and don't really have enough room for them but the accuracy is astounding. but I think for a CHEAP nearfield system the M-audio BX-8 is the best bang for the buck. I tried Rockit's but found the...

Re: John Kalodner interview...
Yea, your right but he's older and being older myself and still having passion for making music with all that's gone on can really be a bummer. I agree that he should have more faith in technology though. MP3's will eventually bring in good bucks to artists. It's really new. I feel labels should be ...
