Re: Beachballs whenever I change ME Master track (little pen

I've had the same problem ever since DP8, and it happens in DP 9.52 and DP10.11, on both Mac and Windows. I've got a large template with > 800 tracks, so usually when I get the beach ball it's a total hang and restart. I've asked MOTU for years about the bug, but support usually shrugs and says no o...

Re: Suddenly, MIDI F# 3 wont play in DP 7.24/ RESOLVED!

Bizarrely, the exact same problem happened to me. F#3! It was assigned to Chunk selection for the default sequence "Seq-1". I wonder why we both had problems with the same note? For me, this happened shortly after migrating to a new Mac.

MOTU Traveler syncs fine at 48 kHz, but not at 96 kHz

I use a traveler as an interface for a Lexicon PCM 96, which requires AES/EBU. I use the traveler to convert from ADAT (from the 2408) to AES/EBU (to and from the Lexicon) and back to ADAT again (back into the 2408 for the mix). This works fine in 48 kHz. In 96 kHz, I've made the necessary changes i...

Re: Missing 3rd party plugins missing DP7.23 RESOLVED

I'm seeing this exact same problem. I noticed some of my bundle files have their Kind field turned into "Pro Tools Plug-In", and I can't figure out a way to change it back to "Bundle". I've had other vague permission problems on the Mac, so this may be related. Repair Permissions...

Re: DP 7.24 Lion Wiper problem

I've been having the same problem. Actually, I played the audio mixdown of a file while watching the MIDI wiper while preparing a score for the mockup I was doing. The wiper was far behind where the notes were playing in the audio track. And...I've also had MIDI timing problems on Lion. Big ones. St...

Re: 7.02 to 7.12? Worth it?

I have to say it's a complete, unmitigated disaster for me. The program is crashing literally every 3 minutes. Never on playback. It's always on editing MIDI data in either the sequence editor or graphic editor; or on changing output assignments on Aux tracks. I've never seen the program so unstable...

Re: AudioWire Cable Length Question

You can do a longer cable, but they are hard to buy, since they appear to be firewire 400 cables, which are going out of style. Several sites which used to sell longer cables, and have them in their catalogs, whenI tried to order them, they called me and said "oh, we don't sell that anymore&quo...

Key Lyle,

Say I'm a big-time Jets fan. Never bet on them though. What do you think of them getting this far and beating the Chargers this past Sunday??

Re: Glacial Open-Movie times

Does this happen when you try a blank file and a small movie file? Does it happen on ly the first time you open the movie in a session or every time? I have found a very slow window-opening condition for the Reassign Continuous Data window. That takes something like 30 seconds to open the first time...

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)

Definitely open plugs cause sluggishness, but it depends on the plug. I can open tons of Waves plugins no problem. But a single Omnisphere and things can be toast. DP is far too slow to redraw, anyway. It's not enough to say "just upgrade your G5 dual to an 8-core tower). Cause once I do that, ...

How long does DP take to save your file?

I'm reading "Superfreakonomics", and one page in it quotes scientific research shows that a 1-second delay on a computer reacting to an action causes "cognitive drift" in the user. A 10-second delay means your mind is totally elsewhere. DP takes me 10 seconds to save. I'm on a Ma...

Re: Virus TI crashes DP MOTU Audio system

Actually I use the TI interface in DP, the only trick is to send the audio out the audio outputs instead of USB. Control MIDI works over USB, but make sure you plug the USB cable from the TI directly into the Mac (I don't use my Gigaware external USB bus, that seems not to work). TI control works. I...

Re: How many 5.13 people waiting to upgrade?

Frodo, My system is a late-2005 vintage G5 Dual with 6 GB. Still on 10.5.4 (for Pro Tools 7.4.2's benefit). Late-2005 vintage G5 tower. I have a side laptop, which is a 2008 Intel 17' Powerbook. I run DP 6 there with the Atmosphere wrappers, which was pretty crashy. Under MAS I run a Traveler (in Pr...

Re: How many 5.13 people waiting to upgrade?

I held off because of the lack of compatibility with Spectrasonics plugs, but the update to Omnisphere plus the need to do a project at 23.976 fps made me upgrade. Actually, things were quite stable, as long as I did projects without significant 3rd party VIs. I ran MachFive2, Ethno, and BFD2 withou...

Re: Do's ans Don't's for a Crash free DP

The problems seem to be twofold: one is when you are doing anything and the computer hits a virtual page fault - this is when the hard drive spins up randomly, because the program has decided to rotate some memory onto disk. This doesn't tend to happen during playback, but often during editing, addi...
