Re: Project will not open
Thanks so much for the replies. I tried the load chunks method, and found that the soundbites would not load, but all the other info would, ie I got the sequence to load, with all the track names, automation, etc., but no audio. That actually made me feel much better... :) Then I tried removing all ...

Project will not open
Hi all- After a month away from a project, I tried to open it and DP becomes stuck at the "Welcome to Digital Performer" screen (for lack of a better name...) It is a fairly complicated project (at least for me) with many different versions of the stereo mixdown as well as all 16 of the ch...

828mk3 hybrid vs 828x
I have just upgraded my white macbook to the MBP with both thunderbolt and FW800 ports, and now I'm trying to decide between the 828mk3 hybrid and 828x interfaces to replace my aging 828mk2. I do live location recording of mainly classical music. From the specs these two interfaces are more or less ...

How much RAM?
Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, I did look around a bit before posting... I've just completed a long-overdue upgrade from a G5 running DP 5.13 to a mid-2012 Mac Pro Quad Core and DP 8. The new machine has the stock 6 GB RAM (3 2GB DIMMs, and one empty space). At the very least I'll fill the...

828mkii send not working
I use an 828mkii that has the Black Lion mod (sounds great so far) but the direct send jack from mic/instrument 2 is DOA, in that it outputs only hum or silence, depending on whether a TS or TRS is plugged into it. This is the case whether or not the mic pre is in use. If the pre is in use, the sign...

Re: DP 5.13 Drops audio during recording
Thanks to all. I started using a 5400 rpm external USB drive and it seemed to be working without the dropout issue that I had with the internal. I tested the external HD with techtools and it passed but then on maybe the 6th project or so recording to it the same problem reappeared. .25 sec dropouts...

Re: DP 5.13 Drops audio during recording
Thanks! The HD passed the Disk Utility verify test, and I repaired the permissions as well. Do you think it's worth setting up a partition to separate the system drive from the audio, even though it would still obviously be the same physical HD? I could also start recording to an external HD instead...

Re: DP 5.13 Drops audio during recording
I do use the system drive to record, but I don't run any plug-ins. The Macbook was upgraded to a 7200 RPM 500GB HD which had between 250-300 GB free at the time of the project in question. As for running defrag or repairing permissions, it's been a while. I also have Diskwarrior but haven't run that...

DP 5.13 Drops audio during recording
My apologies if this is answered elsewhere. I looked around a bit and didn't see my answer so here goes! I use DP 5.13/828mkii/macbook running OS 10.6 for live multi-track recordings and have done so for years without incident, but one of my projects recently had a large number of drops (over 35), e...

Recording using multiple interfaces to a single DP Project
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I'm trying to figure this out for a gig tonight. I have an 828mk2 and a 4pre hooked via FW to a macbook running DP 5.13 on OS 10.5 and am trying to record 10 microphones plus a stereo mix into a single DP project, using the analog inputs on both int...

Making silent CD track transitions on a continuous recording
Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but this is my first post, and I'm in a bit of a time crunch to complete a project. Using DP 4.61 on a dual 2.0 G5 tower running 10.4.8, I have a live choral-classical recording (made in DP 4.61 on a 900Mhz G3 ibook) that I want to divide into what will become ...
