Re: Running Slate+Ash in Kontakt 6 in DP11

I feel like it's the library. I have some Slate+Ash stuff also (and agreed, so deep, creative and awesome!) but I couldn't do a thing on my old MacPro (basically the same as yours). I got a MacStudio 6 months ago, and no problems at all.

Re: New MacStudio/Ventura

Terrific advice as usual, Mike. This seems to be a perfect solution - I can populate it with my project/sample drives immediately. What do you think? https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB3QMJB000/ I see you do notation. Most of my work is on Sibelius 6, which is... OK... Would you recommend new si...

Re: renderSlice 1151 -10876 Error

I had the same error trying to open Rob Papen's Predator in DP11.2, on Monterey on my new Mac Studio. I emailed Rob Papen support who got back to me very quickly, saying that it's a sidechaining issue. They got me to open it up in a different DAW, turn sjidechaining off, save, and then try to reopen...

Re: MacOS Update Removed Volume Control

I *think* that what seems to have happened is that in the past you could also see the visual indicator of your device's volume superimposed on the screen as you changed it, and now you don't. You only see it if you're changing the computer volume. I have my Apogee Duet chosen as my main sound output...

Re: DP video resources

MOTU will not post any of the webinars. I've had many discussions with them, and they will not upload any of them until they have been 'edited'. Seeing as the most recent edited upload was over 2 years ago, it's safe to assume they will not appear. That is their priority, rather than assisting long ...

Re: Do we really need the Mac Studio M1 Ultra chip even for the most heavy orchestral template?

One thing I wonder about, is never underestimate the ability of developers, especially plug-in developers to seize upon this new power to then create increasingly complex plug-in algorithms that will start chipping away at all that power. :) Great post James, that's actually one of the first things...

Re: Do we really need the Mac Studio M1 Ultra chip even for the most heavy orchestral template?

Hi Gate -

The Ultra chip is basically 2 of the Max chips joined together. I think we will have to wait a little for reports of how it works for orchestral templates, or at least longer than a few hours :). I would check on vi-control where a lot of media composers will be discussing this.

Re: In and Out of V-Racks

You can drag individual V-Rack-ed instruments out of the V-Rack to the Tracks window via the Mixer. Open the mixer, make sure 'Show V-Racks' is checked in the mini menu. Create a track of the type you're wanting to move eg unassigned instrument, then in the mixer, drag the insert you want to remove ...

Re: Inaudible Dialogue

Oh boy does this topic hit home. I agree with James, my wife and I have got to the stage of having subtitles on almost all the time. I have a few thoughts, none of which might be relevant- -the rise of the ‘sound designers’ in post production, including the overuse of both ‘ambiences’, and over-egge...
