Re: Drive SMART status to be taken seriously

Hmmm... while RAID is rebuilding the replaced disk (it's at 10% now) I was perusing the documentation and perhaps it found a bad sector during the rebuild. Here's what it says: System - Enable Continue Rebuilding on error: Bad sectors can cause a RAID rebuild to stop. This option will ignore bad se...

Re: Resonant Undertones

Don't know if it's a good solution, but one I used was Melodyne. I had a guitar solo which had some weird low undertones on a few sustained notes. What I did to clear them up was to load the track into Melodyne polyphonic mode, located the undertones and pulled the volume way down on them until the ...

Re: Need help troubleshooting some 'squirrely" behavior plea

Might want to check if you have some latency/delay inducing plugs on the master bus. I was having a latency issue on recording with Sonarworks Reference on the mix/master bus and usually have to disable it when tracking. UAD's Precision Multiband has a high delay count as well.

Re: Delay digital output in DP9

Hi I want to shift/delay all the digital output(adat 1-2, adat 3-4,etc..) by 3ms in my DP9, so it can match other sound sources. How can I do this? 1. Is there a way to do this without a plugin? 2. If I use a plugin, I can insert a plugin Precision Delay to delay 3ms, but would the above phase disp...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

Last, keep also in mind that 32 bit float files are twice the size of a 16 bit file and a third larger than a 24 bit file. You are asking the computer and drive to do that much more work. Just like we can kill a system be eventually overloading it with tracks and plug-ins, you'd get there faster wi...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

Now here is the thing that made it all so disturbing: I wasn't seeing clipping on any of the faders. So I opened the Meter Bridge and displayed the busses and bundles. There, the clipping was going on like mad. Pretty much any bus that was summing two tracks was clipping. This changed everything. I...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

Or is the project bit rate only a "record" bit rate and all processing is at 32 internally? I'm missing something here. That's your answer. You can choose the bit depth to record audio in the transport settings. This determines the bit depth for recording, merging, etc. Regardless of you ...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

I understand why processing is done in 32 bit fp. I've never read a compelling argument for recording audio in 32 bit fp. Still don't understand why anyone would do it on purpose. 24bit is fine with me. Hey Mike, If your project is set to 32 and you do some tracking, doesn't DP just record at 32 (d...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

Wow, I learned a lot there, Guitardood. That was interesting stuff about you. Thanks for posting that. Shooshie Interesting what you mentioned about loading a track on another day and the distortion had vanished. Kind of falls in line with the intermittent type memory stuff I was talking about. Ano...

Re: 32 bit Float question for Magic Dave

9.13 runs great on my rig. Nary a hiccup. One of the ongoing problems with any user forum, whether it's about DAWs, motorcycles, guitars or whatever, is that problems one single user (or two or five or a couple of dozen users) is experiencing get canonized... frozen forever on the board, waiting to...

Re: DP 9.13 available

I just found out about this AUX buss issue, the hard way, last evening. I'm working on a project which is taxing my 12-core,64gb, 3 UAD-2 Octo, PCIe-424 system, even with the buffer maxed (pcie-424) at 1024, and I've been scratching my head as to why. So I turned off all tracks except the background...

Re: Proverb presets?

FYI, speaking of IRs, here's a very cool library, Bricasti M7 from Samplicity.
