Forgot how to mute, solo bunch of tracks in the mixer
Hi all, coming back to DP (11.3) after working in other DAWs, I worked on a mixing project. I had a bunch of related tracks like kick mics, snare mics, overheads, the usual stuff. I needed to put plugins on them, mute them, solo them, show/hide them in the mixer, etc. I did not want to switch to Tra...

Re: Your big three hopes in updates to DP10
I’ve been developing a ‘poor man’s articulation system’ via Program Changes to Kontakt. I'm working with VE Pro and I need notes and CCs, and sometimes both to change articulations. So far I'm able to switch automatically using only one kind of messages. The ideal system would assign any sequence o...

Re: Your big three hopes in updates to DP10
Articulation support. And I will come back from Logic X.

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro + DP (these days)?
Before I switched to Logic, I did whole orchestral scores in DP + VEPro 6 in one big instance. Then, when this instance began to choke up, I split it into three and was good to go again. DP was MIDI only, all audio was summed in the VEPro mixer and routed back. All this was on a 8 core Mac Pro with ...

Re: Has anyone gotten kernel panics from an iMac Pro?
I have an iMac Pro since July and haven't seen a single kernel panic. All my interfaces are Firewire and connected through a Thunderbolt dock.

The lack of articulation support is what made me move to Logic for my current project.

Re: iMac Pro and DP?
Never had one since I bought it in July, being turned on 24/7.

Re: iMac Pro and DP?
Comparing your results to those reported by Michkohl, it is interesting that he observes better graphic performance with his iMac Pro than he experienced with his 8 core, but only in Logic and not in DP. That is incorrect, sorry for making it not clear enough. Graphic performance is much better in ...

Re: iMac Pro and DP?
When you say that VEPro did the heavy lifting, where was VEPro? On the iMac Pro? On a farm external pc? VEPro was on the same machine in both cases (Mac Pro and iMac) When you say audio performance stayed the same----do you mean you could not load more DSP plugins than on the old computer? That wou...

Re: iMac Pro and DP?
I upgraded from a 8 core 2.4GHz Mac Pro to the run-of-mill iMac Pro (8 core, 32GB RAM). The most annoying thing in DP for me was the slowness of GUI. The responsiveness became better but still not on par with say, Logic X. As for the audio performance, it stayed the same. However my latest projects ...

Re: Sales/tech person and product knowledge
The return protection is only up to $300 per item and up to $1000 per year. Not much for modern hardware.

This is not the first time I hear about American Express. Haven't used it much, but now I may reconsider.

Sales/tech person and product knowledge
Ordered the X-Touch surface to use it with DP. I heard about the incompatibilities but the information was inconclusive, so I decided to try it myself. The rumors proved true, the unit supported only the basic functions, no buttons work as expected, so I decided to return it. I explained the reason ...

How to make sd2 files with missing resource fork work in DP
I was stupid enough to burn old projects with .sd2 files to external media. DP refuses to open such a project because of the missing resource forks. I managed to solve it and wanted to share the solution. 1. You need to remember the bit rate, depth and number of channels for each file you would like...

Is DP UI faster with video cards supporing macOS Metal?
The UI sluggishness I had under Sierra and DP 9.51 almost ruined my workflow. I got a nice boost in UI responsiveness when I finally switched to High Sierra. Of course I would like it even faster but it means I need a new hardware. The first choice would be a new video card since the stock one does ...
