Re: RANT - Developer: "You can still run [Insert DAW Name] in Rosetta mode"...
I haven't run it yet. Does the license manager not work? Mike - I had to start with a fresh install of everything. For whatever reason, the license manager authorized BFD and the related libraries properly, but it didn't recognize that the those libraries were already downloaded. I'm now downloadin...

Re: RANT - Developer: "You can still run [Insert DAW Name] in Rosetta mode"...
Adding to this with my own rant - an M1 version of BFD3 was FINALLY released in the last day or so. While I know a lot of people moved to Superior Drummer and others, for me it was my last plug-in that I was waiting to updated. I'm sure there's much more to it than I'm aware, but still I can't belie...

Re: "Old School MIDI Bragging Contests"
They were more annoyed that I was, and gave me an even swap for Dr. T KCS II. That did stuff I still don’t see in current DAWs. I’d probably still be using it if he had added audio. Hmm . . . and here I was thinking I'm the only person that used Dr. T's before "settling" on Performer. I e...

Re: Native Instruments is now, well, native!
Oh man you need to change the title. I was in the beta, yeah it's great Kontakt is ported, it's the only thing out of more than a dozen instruments and FX they've ported yet though. Good call . . . and edited for clarity. Still, happy it happened and impressive they beat quite a few other companies.

Native Instruments is now, well, native! (Kontakt only)
I saw a reference in another post but for those that weren’t aware, the newest Kontakt player now runs natively on ARM Macs. If you’re like me with a new M1 machine and don’t want to use Rosetta, this is great news. Once (if?) BFD gets their new version, I’ll be Intel free . . .

Re: "No license found" for legacy MOTU Instruments
Hmm. “Purchase” the license?. Do you happen to remember how much? The KVR thread didn’t mention the cost. I think I’d be OK with just the Telematic license. I still use that frequently. Although having them all would be great. They are all totally viable still. I think it was 20 euros for each libr...

Re: "No license found" for legacy MOTU Instruments
The UVI-compatible MachFive3 libraries were actually created by a company called AcousticSamples. They still sell them. I found a post from them on their KVR forum that says if you contact them they'll switch the license: "It’s basically a license change so that you’re able to use it without a...

Re: UVI workstation- M5 patches
Oh man I never thought of this, but this is a totally rational solution. It's possible MOTU would have to pay AcousticSamples and PACE a fee to update the libraries to run on M1 Macs, which would make the incentive to fix end of life M53 libraries that much less likely. Definitly gonna look into th...

Re: UVI workstation- M5 patches
In case this helps . . . I ran into the same problem after getting my new M1. After contacting UVI (who confirmed it was an iLok/MOTU issue so they couldn’t help), I contacted AcousticSamples since they still own most of the Mach5 library contact. For a nominal fee, they gave me new serial numbers a...

Re: Buy 21.5" iMac now or wait for ARM?
Thanks, Mike. I always appreciate your advice. And since you're the resident Mac expert around here, one more (speculative) question - do you think this transition is going to be like PowerPC to Intel causing huge headaches from what I remember, or more like 32 to 64 bit where updating software (the...

Re: Buy 21.5" iMac now or wait for ARM?
Thanks MLC and Mike . . . was hoping both of you would reply! I agree that it's usually buy when you need it and when the specs gets bumped up the following year, oh well. However, a brand new chip gets me a bit nervous - don't want to be the early adopter to sort out the growing pains, though the d...

Buy 21.5" iMac now or wait for ARM?
Hi all, Would love to hear some opinions on whether it's worth to buy a maxed out 21.5 Intel machine now or wait for the first ARM iMacs to appear in the late fall/early winter. My aging late 2013 21.5" Intel machine is barely chugging along and is due for an upgrade. Normally this would be rel...

Re: Do I need a Zbox with a MOTU 4pre?
Thanks, Phil and Mike . . . I've been following your posts for years, so always appreciate your advice. Both of your replies mirror my gut sense - the Zbox isn't necessary with the 4pre, though it may improve the tone and overall "feel" while playing. The $40 price tag is low enough to giv...

Do I need a Zbox with a MOTU 4pre?
Subject says it all . . . I'm assuming the answer is no since the 4pre has Hi-Z inputs, but since I rarely record electric guitar, I figured I would ask the experts first. Any advice/information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Before there was DIGITAL Performer...
Put me down as another happy user of Master Tracks Pro before jumping to Performer. That being said, anyone remember Dr. T's? Great software at the time (based in Boston, I believe). I had an issue once that needed technical support and the actual developer took the call to help me out. Hard to beli...
