I can confirm the above ADAT switching thingamabob works. I had 1 channel of phones out and main out doing similar.
Turn both ADAT in and out on and all comes good.

Re: Stop listening to crap!!!
You speak the truth thar regarding power supplies. Too a major degree. You can get good switch mode power supplies though. A good power supply can make a huge difference to gear Generally I have noticed that gear with a toroidial as opposed to a rectangular transformer in the power supply sounds bet...

Re: Anyone used the NitroAV firewire hub with the 828s
Don't know about that particular hub. I used to use 3x 828 mk1's through a firewire 400 hub running 24 tracks at 24bit/48khz no probs.

Mac OS 10.8, DP 7.24 and Eucon...
Minimum range poster, long time lurker… Tried the search thingamabob… Too specific search criteria, the monkeys got sick of typing. Have been in lighting land for a bit too long and have lost touch. What's the preffered Eucon version for DP? I seem to remember Avid breaking and never fixing a lot wh...

The name and branding or the program? Can't tell.mikehalloran wrote:I don't care as long as it works.
I dare say I'll keep using DP even if they change the name to "THE MOST EXPENSIVE MACHINE THAT GOES BING".

DP has a certain "bing" to it

Re: DP should just be just
I'm with you on the loosing the vestigial tail - "Digital". PERFORMER on it's own gives me an image of something like Mainstage which DP clearly isn't. DP follows suit with Mark Of The Unicorn shortened to MOTU. It'll get all the video people in post land confused too! Which is always good...

Re: Your thoughts on switching from 828mk3 to Apogee Duet 2?
For anyone reading this post humously. The firewire duet does not need to be on its own bus. The devices it can follow are limited. For me it works after a lacie rugged bus powered hd, sarotech firewire/esata hd chasis and any device if it is preceded by a powered firewire hub.

Not expensive at all! All that io are extra buses not just repetitions of what's on board.

The MOTU interface should come with a manual. I'd start there.

Cheers James. Lateral thinking triumphs again!
From much Googling it seems a mac can't use the wifi connection of an iPhone to connect to a wifi network. I'll try and verify with your' suggestion.

WIFI and iPhone hotspot over USB
I'm mid project so can't take my 17" MBP in to be repaired yet. It has a common problem where it can't detect the wifi card. This means I'm chewing up my monthly data allowance on my iphone. I can use the wifi at the studio on my iPhone fine. What I'm wondering is: If I have my iphone connected...
