Recommended Ram Amount
Hi everyone. I'm probably purchasing a 2009 8 core Mac Pro to upgrade to a 2010 12 core 3.47 this summer. I'm considering purchasing 64 gigs of ram. Is that too much? I use Native Instruments and Play libraries along with Korg's VI series. My current 3.1 Mac pro has 8 gigs and I hit the ram limit of...

Selections that ignore the grid snap.
Many years ago, with very early versions of Performer, I swear I could make selections in the piano roll editor that ignored the grid snap. For example, I could have the grid set to quarters and be able to lasso a note that began 10 tics before the beat by lassoing slightly before the attack. In DP ...

Disabling the option key / zoom short cut
Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the zoom shortcut function of the option key? I use the option/drag method to copy MIDI notes a lot and if I don't click exactly on the event, the display will zoom in to an idiotically huge magnification. I never zoom this way, preferring the used the co...

Is the Patch/Default Patch Column Dead?
I'm slowly switching from MIDI Hardware to all VIs and I'm discovering the Patch and Default Patch columns are of little use unless I'm using MOTU MX4. Has anyone figured out how to edit the names in these columns so they match the VI I'm using? The VI's I have are the Korg Legacy set, most of the P...

Re: DP 7.23 ....Stuck notes? The verdict is....
I've got reams of stuck notes with 7.24; Anyone know where I can find the 7.23 update? MOTU doesn't post it anymore and they won't reply to my Technote request for a download of 7.23. (I'm running 10.5.8 on a 8 core Mac

Alphabetize Patch Lists?
Back in the old days, Patchlist Manager let you organize patches by number or alphabetically. Does anyone know how to do that now with midnam's?

Re: Anyone using PLAY SC with DP6???
Make sure all of DP's MIDI Input filter types are enabled. Word Builder uses almost every MIDI command to work.

Unisyn and MaC PRO?
I've attempted to run Unisyn 2.11 on a Mac Pro 8 COre 2.8 Ghz OS 10.5.6, but it keeps crashing on start up. The report talks about a Kernal Crash. Any suggestions? The install went fine, but trying to run 2.1 causes the crash. I downloaded and installed 2.11 and the same thing happens - a crash. DP ...

Re: MIDI Panic ignored by older synths in DP5
In my situation, DP 4 works fine, so something changed in DP5. By the way, the Panic button of DP sends All Sounds Off (CC120) and Sustain Off (CC64 off) not All Notes Off (CC124). The Panic Button of the interfaces (MTP USB/AV, Express XT USB, Express 128) sends All Notes off and Sustain off. All S...

MIDI Panic ignored by older synths in DP5
Does anyone know why older synths, such as a Korg M1, Roland U-220, Peavey SP, ignore the controller 120 sent by DP5's 'Stop Sounding MIDI Notes'? I've tested this on several computers with almost all of the MOTU USB interfaces (Express XT, MTP USB AV, Express 128) and none of these will silence the...

One thing you can do (if you have a MIDI interface for each computer) is slave the G4 to the G5 thru SMPTE and have both computers play the same project during editing and mixdown. Copying the project folder after tracking is easy because you can turn the G4 into a firewire drive by restarting it in...

Re: would this work
No. There are timing issues that these devices can't handle.djmikeybee wrote:what about if i get a usb to serial(rs422) adapter. Would that work?
If you buy a USB MIDI Timepiece you can network your old MTP.
