Re: Am I missing something? Where are the bagpipe drones?

I haven't found them either. I've been pulling a drone from Kontakt (ooo. How dare I. ) Let us know if you find one in Ethno anywhere. Q Hello, Am I missing something here? I just got Ethno Instrument and scanning through the presets as I am playing with the bagpipes I notice that I can not f...

Re: Flutes question

Yes. Ethno has flutes using multisamples. I don't have any songs recorded using them yet. What I can tell you is that their character is very ethnic, natural, real. They are limited to the actual range of the original instrument with all the idiosyncracies of a "real" flute sound (e.g., ex...

Does anyone here use Kirk Hunter Studios Symphony Orchestra? the demos seems good. I guess currently most of these sample sets are only for Giga or Kontakt, but wondering anyway.

Thanks.

Is it fair?

Given that MOTU has (still) not released v2, I'd say it's fair.

Frodo, I have to admit that the more I use K2, the less I use M5. Stan Ah!! Someone with both!! Hmm. Details-- me need details! How are you using your samplers? -- to create sounds from scratch? -- to play back sounds only? -- to import/convert from other formats? What is it about K2 that lures you...

I sold my SR some time ago, but I recall this problem. I seem to recall that you can change the buffer settings both in the SR and in Unisyn (or maybe the MIDI driver). Sorry that I can't be more specific.

I hear you... I got Kontakt 2 in a Komplete bundle, so decided to give it a go. For the way I work, it is a more manageable tool than MachFive (which I had been using as my primary sampler VI). Don't get me wrong, I have complaints about K2 (chiefly, the way it dis-organizes my samples and patches -...

Sorry, GordonR. Since I don't override the ranges, I don't know offhand. I'll see if I can figure it out.

Ethno Instrument instruments are playable and highly realistic (given sampling technology, etc.). What I really like about the sampled instruments is that they are not "cleaned up" like so many samplers do. e.g., if the key/note had a buzz on the sampled instrument, they left it in. Nice t...

Thanks, David. I'll check that out. Stan If you are manually triggering the loops, then anytime you "overlap" your triggering you are double-triggering samples which would definitely cause a "jump" in volume. Have you quantized your MIDI track data so there are no overlapping not...

loop sync issues in ProTools

Here's what I did to fix my sync issues:

1. Change all the loops to "Immediate" (instead of Next Note or Next Bar like Stylus RMX uses -- what I'm used to)
2. Still had to restart ProTools for it to work.

Stan

P.S. The sound quality in Ethno is excellent.

sudden volume changes in loops (ETHNO)

I'm using Ethno in ProTools (7.1 cs8 on Mac OSX 10.4.6) and I'm triggering loops every 2-4 bars. Unfortunately, even if I keep the MIDI velocity the same, the loops randomly get louder or softer on various triggers. I can't find any pattern to when this happens. I've tried triggering as Immediate, N...

loop sync issues in ProTools

I'm running Ethno (no install problems, BTW) on Mac OSX 10.4.6 in ProTools 7.1 cs8. While I'm deeply appreciative of the sound and loop quality in Ethno, I'm having some occasional problems with loop syncing. Curious if anyone else has noticed these, found a fix, etc. Specifically: 1. Almost every o...
