Hi! Hehehe... it is statements like that that drive me to want to make flowcharts, and little PDFs of basics with apps. Did it with Pro Tools and TDM before, and it was appreciated by a very small group of people. It was worth every ounce of energy, and then some! I dont care if only one person bene...

LOL! Figures I would find an oddity! LOL! I canot count the number of times in life that I have been told, "Uhh... but you aren't supposed to use that for doing that..." or "Why would you try that? That makes no sense..." I blamed it on voices in my head until I found out you cou...

Well, I might as well warn you about the one that everyone asks: why can't you pin notes on the grid so that they just line right up with the beats? That is to say, why don't the notes snap to the beats automatically? The answer is that it's pro software, and the assumption is that you know what yo...

I never read the chapter on pitch correction, but I was able to use it extensively the first time I saw it. It's very logically implemented. That's no defense for the manual, just assurance that pitch correction is not hard to do. Nevertheless, I learned just about everything I know about DP by rea...

LOL!!! Yeah, the Songs are CHunks, and Songs are built from Chunks gave a me double take. Nowhere in the manual does it explain plainly and clearly, and in a manner assuming the reader has no prior knowledge of DP terminology or concept, what the actual hierarchy and structuring is, why it is, and h...

As for the "double click chunk in song window to launch seq/track window for that chunk" thing... maybe best for it's own thread? That only opens a chunk for editing. I'll repeat once more: the Song Window is an interim step. Convert to Sequence if you want to work in the normal "Chu...

Hi! OK, stupid me. I looked in the manual again, and I noticed the pic in the section about prefs for autoscroll, the pic clearly shows checkboxes for certain windows, and not for others. Of course, the Song window does not have a "Wiper toggle box" so...no wiper; duh on me. However...

Hi! Wow again! Thx for all the tips and advice! I began playing with things, and the first thing I found that was odd was the lack of a Wiper in the Song window. Worse, when I would have the Song I was working with active, and open a Sequence or Tracks window for one of the sequence chunks, there wa...

Song Window: Conductor? Wiper?

Hi! After trying all types of things today, and wearing out my manual, I am stuck (again). I get that autscroll simply means that as the wiper reaches the right edge of the material in the window, the windows "jumps" over and the wiper begins fresh from the left. The Song window has a butt...

Thank you so much for that reply!!! Clarification, and expanding... 1) Mixed meter/polymeter: I am used to working with this now, and have learned to cater to the most prominent. As an example, in one song, I have guitar/bass in 6/8. Drums are 4/4, and vocals run from 4/4 to 5/4 to 3/4, back to 4/4 ...

DP structuring; objects & polymetrics? (long and boring)

Hi! I have searched, scoured, etc and have a basic understanding. The manual and terminology have always (since ver 3) kinda pushed me from making DP my main tool. PT was it (from ver 5, TDM and HD), but when I dropped to LE, and Logic 8 came out...anyway..DP6 is looking great, and Logic 8 is a comp...

OK, thx. I scoured the manual pretty well (I thought), so when I did not see it... I am guessing a "Capture Last ..." does not exist in some oddly named form either then, right? Typically, I will hit record with MIDI, and then if it isnt a keeper, Command+Z and return to last position, rec...

" pre recording " audio?

Hi! Maybe I am dense and missed it, but I cannot find anywhere in the manual that mentions if there is a buffer of any kind when recording. PT has it (only in quick punch?), so does Logic, and I think Cubase does. Logic's is sweet IMO. When you record, it records from the start of the count in (if e...

Hi! Long time lurker, very rare poster, but I guess I will babble a bit... ;) Started on piano at 5, ticked off my Dad by threading his reel-to-reel not long after that (Daddy's little girl, so I got away with it..and more..lol..). He is a computer programmer by need to feed the family, but was, and...

Hi! Long time lurker, rare poster...but this one hits home for me. I primarily write (something resembling) prog rock/metal. I am also a paraplegic (T6 complete; means I have NO abdominal muscle use whatsoever, but do have arm/hand use). For me, modern DAWs allow me to write music, and either do it ...
