Re: Switch from Opcode to MOTU
Yes I moved from Vision to DP, both share the same (dare I say US) musical slant, as opposed to Logic and Steinberg's more technical (dare I say European!!) slant........
and I am English and an engineer........ but I am also a musician and writer!!!!

Re: Splitting Stereo Input?
What if you create two mono tracks, don't you see a choice of inputs?

Re: Master Separations....Anyone doing this?
Just mute or solo elements as you wish, but leave processing or FX in place.
If you are using overall compression there will be differences to how this affects the track with or without key elements. Best not overdo the compression.

Re: Master Separations....Anyone doing this?
This is also sometimes known as mixing 'stems'. I started about 15 years ago doing separate stems of backing and vocals so as to avoid doing mixes with vocal up and vocal down etc, but now it seems standard to do this with as many elements of the mix as you fancy. It can be useful and means you don'...

Re: Time Code - Video - Multi Track
Although having proper sync is the professional way of doing this, if you can't figure it out, then it can easily be done by way of a "clapper" for an audio/visual sync point. Even easier would be just phase-aligning your audio with the audio captured by the camera. I agree with Will. I w...

Re: surround/5.1 - anyone using it?
I have mixed several concerts for DVD, and some experimental soundscapes for video/sound installations. I have a Genelec monitoring setup - 5 1029As and the 7060Asub, using an SPL 2380 surround monitor controller. This seems to be a really clean signal path. I am using an ageing G4 (733m!) with a 12...

Re: Final Cut Pro HD and the 896HD
this is normal behaviour. the difference is usually between 7 and 8 frames. DP can now compensate for this, but with FCP you are kind of stuck with audio and video through FW, or manually offsetting the audio by 7 or 8 frames, but this will make spotting a nightmare. It would be nice if this could b...

Re: DP not accepting Key code???
oops, didn't see your earlier post saying you had already tried this, sorry.
This did however do the trick for me when I had the same problem.

Re: DP not accepting Key code???
I had this... there is advice at Motu.com you need to repair disk permissions: (follows quote from Motu support) Q: After I installed Digital Performer, AudioDesk, or Unisyn, entered my name and keycode, and pressed okay, the box disappears for a few seconds and then asks for my name and keycode aga...
