Re: a message of concern and solidarity to our Mexican dp users

The reason why so many young and healthy people died from the Spanish flu (1918), is believed to be that it was the immune systems that in the end killed off the patient. The virus triggered such a violent reaction that people would die. And the healthier immune system you had, the greater the chanc...

Re: iPod Lawsuit-- I kid you not

If I saw a sign like "iPod in your car!", I would take it to be an admonition for people to leave it there before entering the store, much like some specialist music stores ask you to turn off potentially noisy devices before entering. With bloody good reason too -- it's darn hard picking ...

Re: Music you're listening to lately?

Yes has music that's worth listening to more than once, that's for sure. Even though I have most of what's been released, I'm saving up for The Lost Tapes (the 20 CD box). Other than Yes, my recently played list shows Smetana's "Moldau" and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades". A combinat...

Re: Did I Miss Something

I found a workaround, sort of. It appears that the tabbing stops on the font smaller/larger icon -- pressing tab will never get it past that one. It appears to be broken. (It doesn't work to change the font size on my machine either). The workaround to get tabbing to work again unfortunately require...

Re: Did I Miss Something

While the font colour and increased size can take some time to get used to, I have more of a problem with the rollover functionality. I normally TAB between links, and hit enter to open one, and where the mouse pointer actually is has no relevance to what link I want to follow. This new design break...

Sometimes the shiny new wonderful features just aren't worth it. Sure, it's nice that the software lets me spend an hour and a half going through and adjusting tempo without changing pitch, and synchronizing it perfectly to the beat, but does it buy me anything over just playing the damn thing once ...

There's only 1 song each from the '70s, '80s and '90s that I enjoy at all. Didn't find anything in the '00s. I enjoy a lot of the tracks from the '60s.
The 1760's, I take it? Yeah, there was a lot of good music back then.

The question I have is why aren't more artists screaming about this thing? To be brutally honest: Because most artists are in the pockets of the big oligopolies who would benefit from it. Why would they speak up on behalf of the independents who stand to lose by this, if they aren't independent? Th...

I listen to a lot of females, and although many female artists never write their own tunes and were tossed in for their looks and sex appeal, there are exceptions. Some notable individuals include: Joan Jett Suzi Quatro Pat Benatar P.J. Harvey Joni Mitchell Nina Hagen Patti Smith Marianne Faithfull ...

I am kind of curious what good mix attire would consist of. That, I guess, depends on the impression you want to give. Just like stage costumes, others can undoubtedly take advantage of costumes too, of a different and more subtle kind. Of course, it makes no difference to the sound whether you wea...

To make it sound more analogue, dim the lights a little while mixing. No, seriously, people think that makes the sound more "intimate" and "analogue" (however those two relate). Even what you wear influences how people hear it. If you really were to make it sound more analogue, e...

With more and more musicians thinking like Nils Tufnel, it seems that with the passage of time, Spinal Tap seems more and more like a documentary, doesn't it? Surely you mean Nigel Tufnel, and whaddyamean it's not a documentary? Anyhow, I think there comes a point where you have to say &quo...

I've only once been able to get through on the phone, and that was a pre-sales question they couldn't answer (whether the Ultralite could be locked to a sampling rate, or just set -- the person didn't seem to know the difference).
Not having a working queue system is a black mark of the unicorn.
