Re: The Persistence of Memory, or The Idiot Explained
I so appreciate what you, Shooshie, and others have articulated here. I dream of the day when I can spend some uninterrupted time with DP and my music. Alas, work, family and various other "real world" concerns regularly make that impossible. Even two or three weeks away can seem to put me...

Re: Disabling Plugin for Purposes of a Project Template
As always, this is helpful. I'll explore the v-rack options. If I come up with any revelations, I'll let you know!

Re: Disabling Plugin for Purposes of a Project Template
You're absolutely right that I can disable the aux track altogether, but that would unfortunately defeat my purpose. I need the aux track to be enabled to make use of whatever plugin I choose for that aux-track purpose (i.e., I need the "Plate Reverb" aux track enabled to use Valhalla Plat...

Disabling Plugin for Purposes of a Project Template
Is there a way to have a plugin loaded into an insert slot, but disabled for a particular song because it's not being used on that song? I know that merely bypassing the plugin doesn't prevent it from using system resources. Is there a way to have the plugin "preloaded," as it were, but di...

What the heck?!?! Pitch editing in a copied soundbite
I need your help all. I'm having an issue that I'm hoping you can explain. I had a singer come in to sing a few tracks of backing vocals. Somehow in the confusion, we missed one of the choruses on one of the tracks. Now she's no longer here. So I selected and grabbed her part for the second chorus a...

Re: DP 9.12 Can't Find Audio Files from 7.24 Projects
Thanks again to all of you. Don's suggestion did the trick. It turned out that some of my sequences had become divorced from their associated audio files. By doing a "save as," I was able to recreate the project folders that had somehow been torn asunder. A big relief. Thanks again.

Re: DP 9.12 Can't Find Audio Files from 7.24 Projects
Thanks all of you. Good ideas. I'm currently 1,000 miles away from both computers, but I will try these things out when I get back to them. I've always put my projects on an external Glyph drive and assumed that DP would find the audio along with the projects when I pulled the projects up from the e...

DP 9.12 Can't Find Audio Files from 7.24 Projects
Unicorns: Perhaps too naively, I upgraded my computer from a 2007 MacBook Pro to a 2015 27-inch iMac and from DP 7.24 to 9.12 and expected everything to run smoothly. Oddly, not so much. The particular problem with which I'm wrestling is that, when I pull up any of my 7.24 projects, 9.12 can't find ...

Re: Recommendations for New Thunderbolt Interface
Thanks, Mike. Sounds like the bus power issue will be my biggest concern, but that's manageable. As for what I plan to do with it, I'd like to be able to record at least 8 microphones simultaneously for basic tracks and live recording. I can go through my hardware mixing board or outboard pre's, so ...

Recommendations for New Thunderbolt Interface
O knowledgeable Unicorns: I need your wisdom. Although my 2006 (!) MacBook Pro is still functioning flawlessly (knock wood) as my dedicated audio computer, I don't want to trust the fates and plan to buy a new MB Pro. But I'm concerned that my current interfaces may not play well with the Thunderbol...

Busses Not Working
Oh, DP Gurus, please help! Suddenly, none of my busses are producing audio. This is true both of tracks (i.e., output of a track or tracks is sent to a bus or bus pair and input of a separate audio track is that same bus or bus pair) and aux sends. It is true both on old projects (i.e., projects alr...

Re: Inexplicable System Overloads in DP 7.2
As always, everyone had a lot of interesting and helpful ideas. What a great crowd this is! Just to close (I hope) the loop on my issue, I seem to have resolved the problem. It seems to be a problem with Firewire 400. In another discussion elsewhere on the board, I saw a reference to there being an ...

Re: Inexplicable System Overloads in DP 7.2
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will try all of them. I'm definitely not doing any background processing that would contribute to the problem. The particular song on which this occurred is only about 16 tracks, all mono audio tracks or busses. No VI's and all plug-ins disabled. As for the bu...
