So far the only thing that stopped working has been macports. Already installed ports kept working but port itself gave "wrong os version" error. This was fixed this morning by releasing a new installer.

Go to Motu official download sites and select UltraLite mk3 Hybrid as an interface. That leads you to a download page and there is motu audio driver that works with several Firewire only devices also.

Motu's latest "hidden" driver is working well with M1 Pro MacBook pro, OS 12.1 and UltraLite mk3 Firewire-only interface.
I am using CalTech TB 3 dock plus two chained Apple adapters.
Daily work, no probs.

Exactly. Audio interfaces do not act as USB<>Firewire bridges. Don't waste your money buying a hybrid interface for that purpose.

The startup security utility setup change is necessary at least for M1 mini. The MOTU installer guides through these steps, just follow them. Tried this morning with M1 MINI and os 12.0.1
