Re: Avid HDX as Audio Hardware in DP 8.6
I haven't tried DP 8 with the Avid Native PCIe card and HD 16x16 I/Os on Mavericks yet, but DP 7.24 has run flawlessly on a Snow Leopard partition. The secret to get it running was to do an install of PTHD 10 first, then install DP. This uses the Avid Core Audio driver. I'm not sure how it translate...

Re: DP 7.24 Won't Open, Hangs on Altiverb
Probably not the iLok, but you could go to iLok.com and see if it is recognized. You don't have both the AU and MAS versions installed by chance? Otherwise, try the normal trash the preferences, rescan the plugins, although if you don't have the AU installed, I'm not sure if that would help. After t...

Here's a handy little app: SixtyFourSwitcher 1.2. You can get it at Macupdate or google it.

Re: 64 or 32 bit...any advantage?
I wasn't sure either and found this info relating to Logic, which I don't have. For now I've decided to boot to the 32-bit kernel as I don't know how this applies to DP. "When you are working with Logic Pro or Logic Express in 64-bit mode, some features may not be available. Projects created in...

Re: Only 8 ins/outs showing up for 24 I/O
A fresh install of DP with a pci 424 card defaults to 8 I/O. Go into the pci 424 app and
activate the record and playback channels to your needs.

Re: Recommendation for Multi-Button Mouse?
I've been using the Microsoft Wireless Ergonomic Desktop 7000. I love the mouse and keyboard. The mouse is very large and comfortable and the software is great. It has good range. I use the scroll wheel button to "move to original time stamp." I'm not sure if you can get the mouse separate...

Re: 7.22 sluggish performance issues
This is further info:
New Mac Pro's (Not MacBook Pro's) boot 64-bit by default - the tower systems.
64-bit kernel definitely won't run 32-bit extensions/drivers (drivers are called 'extensions' on MacOS). It will of course run 32-bit userland processes (apps, daemons) without issue.

Re: 7.22 sluggish performance issues
I believe that machine default boots to 64bit and you may need to boot up to 32bit if you haven't already. I'm not even sure if DP would run if you booted to 64, so this is a wild
guess.
guess.

Re: ProTools 9 Crashes When Selecting PCI-424 As Playback En
Its not a simply an OS 10.6.5 thing as many PT 9 people are using it with no issues just like many people here are using 10.6.5 before it is "sanctioned" by Motu. I suspect its the way PT is dealing with aggregate I/O. My setup has been stable, but I'm only using the Motu driver.

Re: ProTools 9 Crashes When Selecting PCI-424 As Playback En
I just installed PT9 on my rig with a PCIe-424 and three BLA HD192s and it is running fine. I'm not sure what the "lightbridge" device is, but I think you can rule out MOTU bugs. You can run the buffer as low as 64 and you don't have to reboot as on a PC. The only thing I haven't checked o...
