Re: Audio vs Aux tracks in template
One could bypass the "Convert all VIs to Audio" step prior to mixing and just go right to stem busses which feed audio tracks(for stem recording) and also fold down to the stereo audio mix...
That's what I've been doing. But my template is not nearly as expansive as Chris T's.

That is so true!mikehalloran wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 10:04 pm Spotlight. It has a search hierarchy that has never made sense to me.
I will note that Spotlight does an excellent job tracking down missing samples in Kontakt.

Re: Mac "cleaning" app?
None. :smash: Let me take this opportunity to remind you of something you probably already know: you could increase the speed of your 2010 Mac Pro significantly for a total of $80 or less. Here is a link to a U.S.-based seller of used X5690 CPUs, the fastest CPU your Mac can use. https://www.ebay.co...

Re: Komplete Kontrol crashes MBP M3 in DP11.31
Any time I'm about to do something on my system that makes me nervous, I run a TM backup which will create an up-to-date APFS snapshot of my boot drive so I have something to fall back on easily in case things go wrong. James, are you running an SSD for your TM backups? If you are using a spinner, ...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase
Another one is that my metronome won't sound when I record (or playback), despite having selected it (and output channel etc is correct). If Metronome is lit (blue), typically clicks will not sound. I have to deselect metronome, then re-select DURING recording/playback for it to finally sound the c...

Re: Building an External Music Studio Building
Your location (with woods in the background) doesn't appear to demand a lot of acoustic isolation, which makes things easier. Drywall would provide superior isolation, but if you don't need it, who cares? Unless you're doing 2-layers of drywall plus high-density fiberglass in the wall cavity, drywa...

Re: Building an External Music Studio Building
I didn't do any of the construction, but I did lay carpet, etc. Also, I learned it's cheaper to do the interior walls and ceiling with prefinished tongue-and-groove pine than to do drywall (by the time you do tape/mud/paint), so I saved some dough there. It all looks really nice. Your location (wit...

Re: Building an External Music Studio Building
My immediate thoughts: 1. If at all possible, build something bigger than 160SF 2. Whatever the size, use dimensions that avoid stacking of room modes. http://www.mcsquared.com/modecalc.htm 3. If acoustic isolation ("soundproofing") is important in either direction (to acoustically protect...

Re: DP Gripes, and things that have (almost) pushed me to Cubase
With consecutive notes of the same pitch, where starts & ends are quantized for notation purposes , playback doesn't work right. I guess that's why I never see this problem. If quantizing for notation, as opposed to audio, purposes, perhaps a "Save As (Notation)" would be a good appro...
