I'm optimistic. There have been a lot of growing pains, but I'm hopeful that maybe in another year, tops, Apple Silicon systems will start to be as solid as the Intel systems we've been used to. It's just going to take time for Apple and all the various third party software and hardware developers ...

14.5 Public Beta seems to have fixed my problem.

This is the first time I have installed a Public Beta and I will go back to normal updates as soon as the Official 14.5 comes out.

If I run into any problems, I'll let y'all know...

Just a heads up that I recently discovered in a session today that opening any Kontakt 7 instance in DP 11 with the latest Sonoma update causes a complete freeze, then black screen, then reboot. OK, it gets weirder.
I have a USB-C to 4 USB-A hub. If I plug the “defective” cable into the hub, perfect audio. Either USB-A port direct to the Mac does not work. Go figure!

So I have USB-3 from 624 to USB-A on the hub into a USB-C port on the Mac.
