Re: Monitor level knob

I've the used "nano patch" for a decade or so. Just sits there and does what it's supposed to. It's not stocked at Sweetwater any more, but Amazon lists them. Close to $100 now, which seems high to me, but there ya go...

Re: Webinar videos

thanks, dix. I'll try the facebook group.

As to Covid19, I'm using the 1918 pandemic as a best forecast (something around two years) so I'm not as optimistic, but I hope your right.

Re: Webinar videos

Hmm No posts since Aug 1. I may have not found the right spot. I wasn't able to catch the Aug 20 Webinar. I'm interested in playing live music in a Zoom meeting and the Aug 20 webinar included that subject. Did anyone catch that session?

Hiro has a doppelgänger!

Although he's not as active on this board as in the old days, I hope he gets a copy of this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zZ2h2MRCe0 I watch developments at Nissan and in conjunction with the Japanese Auto show for this year, the company released several YouTube videos around their concept ...

Re: using 2x 828x's together

No answer for you, but you didn't mention word sync. If you can startup with only one on and then turn on the second with no problems, then it sounds to me like starting with both of them on causes ambiguity about who is "in charge". I'm assuming you know a lot more about systems than I do...

Re: Learning DP

This thread is a bit stale, but I'm posting here that the MOTU YouTube channel now ( as of 21 April 2015) has a David Das Tutorial on tempos in DP8. I took a quick view and discovered that I would profit from some practice using his methods.

Re: Help on Sends

Thanks for looking, Phil. We got through the session this morning fine by turning off the monitors and then using the Head Phone out on the 828x.

A quick try at arming the track didn't seem to make a difference, but I'll spend some more time today looking around.

Help on Sends

I used to do this all the time..... I'm trying to set up a template which will use an outboard headphone mixer (please don't suggest Cuemix for the moment). As a start, I dropped some audio files into a new template. Four mono tracks for Bass, Guitar and two voices. Their output is directed to Main ...

String Quartet

I stumbled across this recording of the Emerson SQ. Since I do my recording as a hobby, I don't have all that much breadth in mic placement experience. Love the mix of this link: http://www.nytimes.com/video/arts/music/100000002798993/in-performance-emerson-string-quartet.html?playlistId=11948116221...

Terminator turns 30

Slate online had a fun article about the score for this movie from the early 80's. The Composer, Brad Feidel said: "Terminator was very difficult,” said Fiedel, “because I was using many different synths and sequencers and because I didn’t have MIDI available on many of them I had to sync them ...

Recording a Street Band

Friend is doing a video about a local "street band": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTFtGnG9MSs He's asked me to look into some recording techniques that might improve the video sound track over the zoom that is normally used for the live work. We might also record some tracks to use as be...

"stephentayler" said: [They were known as a Cannon connector when I came to the business -] Thank you Stephen (and others). As far as I'm concerned, you've explained the derivation. I'll except the Wiki explanation since it matches the experience of someone that was connecting them at the ...

Trivia - What's XLR mean?

I know about the wiring and that, but tonight in an A/V orientation, the presenter said that really, no one (not even Wikipedia) knows. I can't believe that, but I don't know.

Anyone?

collaboration file sharing

I've a number of songs done by a friend (recorded here in DP) that he'd like to send to players for an additional track or two. Plan is that they'll get the music bed and record the additional tracks to it. To give them the files, I opened a google account and used google "sites" to make a...
