Is Doing This a Problem?

Hi friends, I’ve got 997 DP7 files on a hard drive here connected to an iMac Pro with DP10 installed. These pieces were done from 2003 to 2009 until serious illness intervened. The Mac Pro they were done on died in 2017 but I kept the four drives it housed, sold my home in Ireland, and shipped my li...

Re: Novation Launchkey With DP9?

Hi Michael, I really can't thank you enough, my friend. Now I have glorious sound! A problem I forgot to mention is that I became very ill in 2009 with undetected and undiagnosed Lyme Disease after a tick bite. One of the results is that I have a number of memory issues. So I would never have though...

Novation Launchkey With DP9?

Hi friends, I took delivery of a Novation Launchkey 49 MIDI controller today and I've just about lost the will to live. My needs are few - I simply want to be able to play and record software synths in DP9, no transport or FX plug-ins control needed, just MIDI notes. Despite trying for the entire da...

Time Traveller Needs Guidance

Hi friends, I used to be an active member of the MotU community until 2009 when I contracted undetected and undiagnosed Lyme Disease. I still have DP 7.23 on this dying Mac Pro. But I'm back, raring to go, and I find myself in a strange future. All my hardware instruments are now museum-worthy, so I...

Re: How my life turned into a horror movie

Hi folks, It's been a long time since I've been here. I've been working 16 hours a day seven days a week for the past five months on a vast update to my website which I've finally finished and uploaded. And I really, really need you to go take a look because it contains vital and time-sensitive info...

Re: How my life turned into a horror movie

Good luck with it all Dave. I suffer from insomnia myself sometimes up to 3 days with no sleep that alone can be very debilitating. Thanks for your response, wylie1. Dear God, three days without sleep is unthinkable. Wow! The worst I've ever had was 40 minutes. Normally, it's anywhere from two to f...

Re: How my life turned into a horror movie

Heartfelt thanks for your helpful and sympathetic responses, guys. Please forgive me for not replying individually to your posts - I had two hours' sleep last night and these things have been dancing all over me non-stop for the entire day. As I write I'm picking them off my face and back. (Sorry.) ...

Re: How my life turned into a horror movie

Thank you very much for your responses, guys. @Adriano: Many thanks for your encouragement and your prayers. All I can do is try to take it one day at a time, hoping all the time that someone with some expertise and an open mind will stumble upon my website. Take care. @twistedtom: Thank you for you...

Re: How my life turned into a horror movie

Many thanks for your thoughtful response, Buzzy. Challenges they certainly are, and at this stage I'm no longer sure I can win. If I can, I'll be back.

Kind regards.

How my life turned into a horror movie

MOTUnation regulars may recall that I used to frequent these hallowed boards until two and half years ago. Since then, I've been missing in action. Why? In May, 2009 my mother died in the hospice ward of a Dublin hospital. To see the horrific effect on my life of choosing this hospice (a choice that...

Re: MOTU: Distribute some cheap user swag!! (NI does!)

I still have that teeshirt. And it's still the coolest one I own. It came in the box with Performer 5.0. Every time I wear it people ask me about it and where they can get one.

Kind regards.

Re: UAD 1176 vs UAD 1176SE

From the UA manual: "The 1176SE is derived from the 1176LN. Its algorithm has been revised in or- der to provide sonic characteristics similar to the 1176LN but with signifi- cantly less DSP usage. It is provided to allow “1176LN-like sound” when DSP resources are limited. "The 1176SE beha...

Re: Patch changes for VIs?

VIs have to be coded to recognise and respond to MIDI patch change commands. Most are not.

Kind regards.

HD rescue for $99

I've done business in the past with these people - PowerbookMedic - and they're good. Got an email from them today advertising a new service - hard drive salvage. Up to 8GB of files recovered for $99, with free shipping both ways, and a thumb drive containing the rescued files thrown in as well. Sou...

Re: How to Get DP7 to recognize Patch Lists

Are you sure the files are in the correct location? You should have one file named "Roland.middev" and other files named "<Model Name>.midnam." <Boot HD>/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU/Roland/ If they are, try this: Open Audio MIDI Setup. Delete those instruments for which no ne...
