Re: Best recommendations for adjusting pitch on vocals
It was a revelation to me when I discovered that holding the command key down while adjusting pitch in DP's pitch editor (in the Sequence editor window, natch!) allows us to make microtonal pitch adjustments. Also, clicking and dragging the pitch bar's edge lets us change how much of the note is bei...

Re: Manual for Mosaic 1.58
I actually used Mosaic last year. I had some ancient charts that I'd done in Mosaic, and I still have a PowerBook that boots in Classic mode (OS9). After trying to export the files in a format that Sibelius can understand, I determined a few things: 1) It is quicker and easier to redo a chart from s...

Re: Signal / Tone Generator in DP 8?
I have 1kHz, 10kHz and 100Hz sine wave test tones on my desktop from an old audio test CD. I simply copied the aiff files from the disc into a folder, and if I ever need them I drag them into the project I'm working on. I also created a project with them called "Tones."

Re: DP 8.07 and opening 3.01 OLD files
I'm not at all sure why you get that error message. I can only suggest what I do when I open ancient archived DP files. I've had a few old projects in v3.11 that I wanted to open in v7.x or v8.x. Many of them wouldn't open in DP7; sometime projects would just open and freeze, others wouldn't open at...

Re: Opening DP4.5 files in DP8
I had a project in DP 4.61 that wasn't opening in DP 7, so I opened it in DP 5.13, saved that, then successfully opened the 5.13 version in 7.
I imagine the DP 7 version would open in DP 8.

Mosaic to Sibelius crossgrade - still available
This may be old news, but it came as a surprise to me: Sibelius is still offering a crossgrade from MOTU Composer's Mosaic. (I searched this site, but found no direct reference to this fact.) The crossgrade is $200 ($199.95 to be precise), which is $400 off the regular price. That's less than the ac...

Re: Unable to Pitch Correct human whistling and piccolos
The pitch correction is looking for a monophonic tone. It's optimized for the range of the human voice. One of the problems with a whistle is that the breath content is seen as low frequency noise by the pitch algorithm. You could try processing the signal first with a high pass filter to remove th...

Re: Question about Export Selected Soundbites
As far as I can tell, the exported .wav files will be at the same bit depth and sample rate as the original file in DP. You can test this by changing the bit depth to 16 bit with the Convert Audio Files option in the Soundbites window and selecting "Create new soundbites" so that your orig...

Bump. Just 2 more days (today and tomorrow) to take advantage of this great deal and help Bernie at the same time. (I got the bundle last night.) It is also with great pleasure that I am able to announce that we have already collected and sent over $100 000 to Bernie's family ! But that is unfortuna...

Using DP 8 to set up alternate tunings for MIDI guitar
Just saw this article from EM in my inbox: "In this Power App, see how to set up your MIDI guitar with MOTU Digital Performer’s Multi-Record feature to create alternate tunings and splits. With this setup, you can assign splits with bass on the lower two strings, a pad on the 3rd and 4th string...
