I have no intention of turning this into a debate of DP vs. Logic vs. Pro Tools. :) Each digital audio sequencer out there is just a tool to be used. Some people will naturally gravitate towards one or the other. Heck, some people (like me) have decided to use each one for what it does best. M...

I've used DP, Logic and Pro Tools and my recommendation for digital audio is Pro Tools. I have PTLE 7.1, a Digi002R and a Mbox. I use it with my Quad G5, as well as my PowerBook 1.5GHz G4. With the DV Toolkit 2 and Music Production Toolkit, I have 48 stereo tracks at 96k, timecode, full "Import...

Choosing between DP and PTLE will be heavily influenced by what type of work you are doing the most. For audio recording, editing and mixing, I recommend PTLE. Let's face it people, Digidesign really has their act together when it comes to digital audio. That's part of the reason why Pro Tools is so...

Either use Device Groups, or you could just duplicate the track and assign it a different output.

Did the Motif come with any driver software? Since it uses USB, instead of MIDI, that could be a possibility. Also, I've found that sometimes the order that you power up your gear can affect whether a USB-based controller/synth will appear or not in AMS.

Hope that helps!

With all due respect, this will probably get deleted, but I too find James' acceptance of this post to be hypocritical. A while back, another poster (sorry, can't remember the name) got reprimanded for saying something about a "war with a middle eastern country", and yet this post with a b...

I love my FM7 and I sincerely hope NI continues to update it. I can't imagine why they wouldn't. It's not like there are lots of DX7 emulations out there as competition.

My vote would be to skip dealing with LAME and bounce a 16-bit, 44.1k WAV or AIFF and do the conversion in iTunes (if you must). You will have a much wider variety of conversion options and it's very easy to A/B them and decide what you like (MP3, AAC... what bit rate you prefer, etc.). Plus, as you...

I've been tempted to shrug off the shackles of Digidesign's software & hardware, but there is one little issue: compatibility. With the deadlines I have on major projects, there is no time (or room for error) to transfer from one DAW to another, unless it's absolutely necessary. It's simply easi...

With all the talk of security and cracked versions of DP, I just couldn't resist pointing a couple of things out. On other audio forums, I regularly see Logic users complaining about the dongle needed to run Logic. Then, there are the Pro Tools users (myself included) who wish that Pro Tools didn't ...

For the most part, everything works fine for me. The only doubts I have deal with how efficient the Digi Core Audio drivers are with DP. Although, earlier this year, I did some tests with DP, Pro Tools LE and Logic Express and the differences between them seemed to be exclusively related to the appl...
